Data Technologies at the Tour de France

Grant Sainsbury gave the club a presentation about how his company, Dimension Data, has revolutionized the viewing experience of the Tour de France. Dimension Data formed a partnership with ASO, the owner of the Tour de France, to process live data for analysis and consumption by Tour fans and commentators. They also have their own Tour website and mobile app that allows fans to track the race in ways they want to. Ultra Marathons: More than just a Foot Race

Wednesday July 29th, we were joined by Ultra Runner and Umstead 100 Race Director Rhonda Hampton. Rhonda Hampton is the current race director for Umstead 100 Mile Endurance Run which is held annually in William B. Umstead State Park in Raleigh. Rhonda is an Ultra Runner herself. She ran her first ultra, the JFK 50 Mile, in 2004.  Rhonda has completed more than 50 ultra marathons with 7 of those being of 100 miles or more.  Her longest run was along levy of the Mississippi River, where she ran 126.2 miles from Baton Rouge to New Orleans.
