May is Youth Service Month

May is Youth Service Month on the Rotary calendar. The Rotary Club of North Raleigh celebrated Youth Service on Wednesday by hosting a Youth Services Assembly, showcasing our 2016 youth programs. Jason Potts, RCNR Youth Services Director, thanked the members who have chaired the programs this year and introduced local youth who have benefited from them. Alex Wilson Awards: The club recognized two Alex Wilson Awards recipients at the assembly. Sanderson High School senior Noah Anderson received a $1000 Alex Wilson scholarship. Ira David Wood III, RYLA Students and Lots of Guests

There was a large turnout for the Club meeting Wednesday to hear Ira David Wood III speak. In addition to many members bringing guests, we had our 2015 RYLA students from Millbrook and Sanderson high schools joining us for lunch. Mr. Wood is the Founder & Executive Director of Raleigh’s Theater in the Park. He is best known for annually portraying Ebenezer Scrooge which celebrates its 41st year of consecutive production this December. A special week for Rotary and Interact Club

Last week was an incredible week for the members of the Rotary Club of North Raleigh and the Millbrook High School Interact Club…for separate and common reasons. On March 22nd, about 15 members and family members of the Rotary Club of North Raleigh gathered to plant trees/shrubs and then participated in a park cleanup at the Cedar Hills Rotary Park off Millbrook. This was the hands-on element for the club’s park beautification project…something members of this club have wanted done for many years.
