Admiral Discusses Navy Roles and Responsibilities

Admiral Tina Alvarado spoke to the club Wednesday June 1 as part of a Navy outreach program. The Navy schedules several dozen outreach engagements a year, targeting communities with little or no Navy presence. Since less of 1 percent of the population serve in the Armed Forces, the goal is to educate the public about the services the Navy provides to the country both in peacetime and war. General Moellering: Global War on Terror

Lieutenant General John Moellering was our guest speaker on Wednesday. He presented the current state of the global war on terror. Lt. General Moellering spoke to the club about the recent events taking place in the Middle East. He was in the Pentagon and member of the Joint Staff. He dealt with serious terrorism issues of the day including the Achille Lauro hijacking, US hostages held in Lebanon, the Iran Contra affair and the military raid on Muammar Qadaffi.
