Dr. Adelman Talks Current Health Issues

Dr. Richard Adelman, long-time club member, gave an update on current health concerns. His health update has become an annual occurrence at our club and others. He discussed, diet, vitamin-D, allergies, Zika amongst other topics. Dr. Richard Adelman addressed many health care issues in his 1/2 hour talk before the club. Among them: 1. Eggs are now good for you. 2. 2% milk is also good for you. 3. Put oil & vinegar on your salad, not all the fancy dressings that contain so much fat. 4. Ultra Marathons: More than just a Foot Race

Wednesday July 29th, we were joined by Ultra Runner and Umstead 100 Race Director Rhonda Hampton. Rhonda Hampton is the current race director for Umstead 100 Mile Endurance Run which is held annually in William B. Umstead State Park in Raleigh. Rhonda is an Ultra Runner herself. She ran her first ultra, the JFK 50 Mile, in 2004.  Rhonda has completed more than 50 ultra marathons with 7 of those being of 100 miles or more.  Her longest run was along levy of the Mississippi River, where she ran 126.2 miles from Baton Rouge to New Orleans.
