The torch was passed from Newman Aguiar to Rusine Sinclair Wednesday night at the North Raleigh Country Club. The celebration reflected on the magnificent year we had in District 7710 under Newman with record high membership and Foundation giving. Rusine is connected to Rotary by some very personal things. She was awarded an ambassadoral scholarship in the ’70s and spent a year studying in Singapore as a result. It was a time that changed her life. She was also aflicted with Polio as a child. Although she doesn’t show any lasting effects of the disease, her experience with it is a driving force in her alignment with Rotary to rid the world of the disease. We all welcome her leadership and congratulate her on her election as District Governor.
