Wednesday September 2nd turned out to be a great day for the club picnic. With Sertoma Art Center closed for maintenance, we decided to schedule the picnic a little early instead of canceling. Luckily the weather was agreeable. A little warm perhaps but not hot by any means. More importantly it did not rain. About 35 members attended and enjoyed burgers, hot dogs and other picnic goodies. The club performed its usual start to the meeting with a four-way test themed invocation, the pledge of allegiance and a well sung version of America the Beautiful. As I was walking through the parking lot afterward, a young couple asked if that was us singing earlier. “The whole park kinda stopped and listened. It was nice,” he said.
