Guatemala Literacy Project Updates and Recognition

Before starting his talk, Steven presented a plaque from the Cooperative for Education (the GLP organization) congratulating us on our 50th anniversary. Students from the school in Guatemala sent us hand made and signed thank you letters which were placed on all the tables at Wednesday’s lunch. Our club has been active in the Guatemala Literacy Project for many years. 2017 Scholarships and Awards

The awards are two $1000 scholarships, this year presented to Dominic Rodts and Tabarek Mohammed Ali. Tabarek was not able to attend the presentation. The club also heard from past recipients of another scholarship we support: the TC & Bill Parker Scholarship to Wake Tech. Two of the three students thanked the club and described their progress and plans. Lastly, the club presented a $25,000 check to the Wake Tech Foundation for the Bridges to Success program. Bridges to Success is one of the club’s 50th anniversary projects. See
