Curtis Stevens Inducted as Newest Member

The Rotary Club of North Raleigh is happy to welcome our newest member, Curtis Stevens. Curtis was inducted Wednesday September 16th at a great meeting that also included the 2015 District Governor. Curtis is originally from Northeast, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Mount Union College in Alliance, OH where he played 4 years of college basketball. He and his wife Julie live in Raleigh with their 2 children, Dominic (4 1/2), Alec (3). Curtis is an account executive and risk manager at Moore and Johnson Insurance Agency. DG Newman Aguiar Visits the North Raleigh Club

Wednesday September 16th we witnessed a very active combination of events at our weekly meeting. Here’s a recap: 2015 Rotary District 7710 Governor Newman Aguiar, accompanied by his lovely wife Ann-Louise, paid the annual DG visit to our club. Paul Suffern and NTSB Forensic Meteorology

Meeting Photos More photos… Paul Suffern spoke to the club Wednesday September 9, 2015 about NTSB forensic meteorology techniques for investigating aircraft accidents and incidents. NTSB reviews all weather products and material available. That includes National Weather Service products, private company products, briefings, observations, satellite/radar, weather computer modeling, dual pol radar data and any new technologies, products or procedures. Weather conditions account for approximately 30% of all accidents. In 41% of the weather related accidents, the pilot did not obtain or receive an adequate weather briefing. Members Enjoy Biannual Club Picnic

Wednesday September 2nd turned out to be a great day for the club picnic. With Sertoma Art Center closed for maintenance, we decided to schedule the picnic a little early instead of canceling. Luckily the weather was agreeable. A little warm perhaps but not hot by any means. More importantly it did not rain. About 35 members attended and enjoyed burgers, hot dogs and other picnic goodies.
